Prepare a results-day action sheet for your own session

Results access and timing depend on your session and school arrangements.

Confirm the release arrangements through school

Results access and timing depend on your session and school arrangements. Use the current IB candidate information and instructions from your coordinator to confirm when and how you can view results. Keep access details securely and check the relevant time zone. Avoid copying an old date from a general guide. Before the day, identify whom to contact if access fails or the result needs clarification.

Separate the information you need

Prepare a short sheet for subject results, diploma status and any next-step requirements. A total alone does not explain every condition for the diploma or a university offer. Ask your coordinator to clarify the award status where necessary. Keep university correspondence and official offer conditions available so you can read them accurately. Do not assume another student's result or offer determines what your own institution will do.

Try an offer-condition example

Imagine your overall total meets a stated offer but one required subject grade appears below its condition. Record the official result and the exact offer wording, then contact the institution through its stated process. Discuss relevant school options with the coordinator. Do not promise yourself that a re-mark will supply the missing grade. A clear record makes conversations more useful without speculating about admissions outcomes.

Make a question list before requesting services

If a result is unexpected, ask the coordinator about available information, suitable enquiries upon results and current deadlines. These services have specific purposes and conditions. Keep a note of advice and the next action. Separate a request for clarification from a decision to purchase or authorize a service. Students and parents should use the school route for individual results questions rather than expect the IB to discuss the case directly with them.

Keep practical follow-up traceable

Record the person contacted, date, advice and any response deadline. Confirm how results reach institutions and whether additional action is required for your situation. Save official correspondence. Avoid making irreversible plans based on an assumption while an important question is unresolved. A short action sheet reduces the need to remember details during an emotionally significant day.

Prepare the sheet before results arrive

Fill in contacts, access instructions and verified deadlines in advance, leaving space for actual results and questions. Decide who you want available for support. Once results arrive, use the sheet to choose a concrete next action rather than checking every possible option simultaneously. If no follow-up is needed, close the practical process and keep the record for future reference.
