Start with the decision in the case

Current Business Management preparation should focus on the task and stimulus supplied for your course. CUEGIS belongs to the previous assessment model, so it should not determine how you prepare a present-day response. Read the question for the decision, organizational context and required judgment. Identify what the business is trying to achieve and which constraint most affects its options. A recommendation becomes useful when it addresses that particular combination of goals and limits.

Extract evidence before selecting tools

Make a short case inventory: objective, operational situation, financial evidence, stakeholder concerns and missing information. Use only details relevant to the task. Distinguish numerical evidence from qualitative claims made by people in the stimulus. Then choose tools or theories that help examine the decision. Starting with a favourite framework can lead you to force the case into categories that contribute little to the recommendation.

Compare feasible alternatives

Identify the options actually available and evaluate them against criteria suited to the organization's goals. Explain likely benefits, resource needs and significant trade-offs. Consider how one function's decision affects another. A growth proposal may create a marketing opportunity while increasing staffing and financing requirements. The most persuasive option is not necessarily the one with the greatest potential revenue; feasibility and the stated purpose of the organization also matter.

Work through a social-enterprise case

Imagine a social enterprise repairs donated bicycles and wants to serve more low-income users. The case indicates limited workshop space and volunteer availability. Expanding advertising could increase demand without increasing repair capacity. A staged partnership with an additional workshop might better address the bottleneck, but it requires coordination and quality control. A recommendation should explain why this sequence fits the evidence, how it supports the social purpose and which risk management needs to monitor.

Make the recommendation actionable

State the preferred option, reasoning and relevant implementation priorities. Where the question calls for a plan, link actions to the problems you identified. Avoid inventing precise costs, forecasts or schedules unsupported by the case. You can propose a pilot or a review point while making its rationale clear. Explain what evidence would lead management to revise the plan. A recommendation with conditions is more useful than an absolute claim that ignores uncertainty.

Practise under the correct task format

Use the current specimen or school-selected questions for your level, noting that some components are HL-specific. Rehearse extracting evidence and planning a recommendation before writing a full response. After feedback, check whether the answer remained specific to the organization and whether the final choice followed from the comparison. Rewrite the weakest link. This builds transferable decision-writing skill while keeping preparation aligned with the assessment you will actually sit.

Check stakeholder priorities explicitly: the enterprise may need financial viability and social impact at the same time. Explain how your proposed action handles the tension. A recommendation that maximizes a single measure can miss the organization’s reason for operating and its practical constraints.
